How do I browse auditions?
Posted by Matthew Friedman

There are three ways to browse auditions. The first two are so easy you've already figured them out.

  1. Immediately upcoming auditions are listed right there on the front page under "Next 5 Auditions." To view more than 5, just click on the 5 and select a bigger number. (If this doesn't work, make sure you have JavaScript enabled in your browser.) To view just auditions of a particular type, click "All Types" and pick the one you want.
  2. There's a cool mini-calendar right there along the right edge of the page. (It was very hard to make, so I hope you enjoy it.) Dates which have auditions scheduled are colored yellow. Put your mouse over the date and a balloon will pop up with more info on all auditions on that date, with links to the details.
  3. The full calendar can be browsed by clicking "full calendar" wherever it appears (like at the top of the "Next 5 Auditions" box), or on the little calendar icon at the bottom of the right-hand mini-calendar. This one displays an entire month at a glance, and can be scanned through future months, and narrowed down to the week or the day.*

Wherever the magnifying glass appears, click on it to view the full details of that audition. Auditions are usually listed in very brief form on the main pages, but when you click on one, you are taken to the full details for that audition, and if the producer/director/casting director has done a good job and listed lots of juicy info about what to prepare, that information will be listed there.

If you see an audition you want to keep on hand, add it to your Call Sheet. Wherever you see a pushpin icon, click it to add it to your personal Call Sheet. You must be registered and logged in to the site for this to work, obviously. For more information about the Call Sheet feature, click here.

* If this full calendar looks like the one at onHamptonroads.com, that's because it essentially is! I wrote the calendar component they use when I was designing this site, and made it publicly available as "open-source" software, and a lot of sites now use it. I'm a big fan of open-source software. --Matt

Cynics and critics wake us up. Kindness often covers up the truth and allows us to sleep on in our ignorance.

If you were logged in, clicking this icon would add this audition to your personal Call Sheet, a running hotlist of auditions you are interested in keeping an eye on for scheduling purposes or to watch for changes.
